Year Designation

Panerai makes use of single letters to designate the years in which watches are produced. These are also referred to as "series". The year designation can usually be found next to the production number engraved at the bottom of the caseback. However, this is not a rule set in stone; some Luminor watches have exhibition casebacks and others are simply designed differently. What is constant is that the year designation can be found on or around the caseback on virtually all Luminor watches.

Where there is no letter, it would indicate a watch produced before 1997, which is known as "pre-Vendome".
